what i learned about pineapples

the other day my mum and i drove to the grocery store. as we perused through the produce section, she picked out the usuals- strawberries, cantalope, mushrooms, and a pineapple. curiously she turned to me and asked, "do you know how to tell if a pineapple is ripe?" i wracked my brain, remembering someone ask me the same question a few days before...oh, yes, hannah! i replied to mum, "no, mum, i don't know." well here is the answer (for hannah kyrene and anyone who might be interested)-

gently pull one of the top leaves and if it comes out easily, then it is a perfectly ripe pineapple.
