work, work, and more work

i started working part-time at walgreens. the irony of life- back where i started three years ago before i left for bible college. but the Lord is so good and there are many lost people at walgreens too.

funny. i am probably the exact opposite of what walgreens is looking for- i really don't like trying to sell people things.

the other night i worked my first closing shift, which was a bit sketch. it was almost as if at exactly 9pm (an hour before the closing) every shifty eyed crook made their way into the store to rip off stuff. of course, most of them are shady characters and not exactly the one's i would go up to and say, 'excuse me, sir, were you planning on paying for that?'

but the night was a adventure and i had the opportunity to get know a few of co-workers. most of them are in high school or just starting college and they need jesus. i am, in one sense, glad to be working in a secular environment again because it opens my eyes to hope we have in christ and reminds me of what jesus meant when He said, "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16)
